5 Nomenclature

The following nomenclature is used in this part of the MWN standard.

  • 0-1 means that either none or one XML element or attribute has to be included in the relevant message;

  • 0-n means that either none, one or more XML elements or attributes may be included in the relevant message;

  • 1 means that exactly one XML element or attribute has to be included in the relevant message; and

  • 1-n means that at least one XML element or attribute has to be included in the relevant message.

The term “optional” encompasses the two cardinality expressions “0-1” and “0-n”. The term “mandatory” encompasses the two cardinality expressions “1” and “1-n”.
