7.3 For right shares

The following common rules shall apply to all composites describing right shares in all Profiles defined in this part of the MWN standard:

  1. If a right share only applies to a part of a musical work, e.g. to the lyrics, this shall be indicated in the WorkPart element.

  1. If a right share applies to several musical works, only one RightShare composite shall be communicated, with links to all those musical works to which the right share applies.

  1. If a start date for a right share is known, it shall be communicated in the ValidityPeriod, otherwise the recipient should rely on the bilateral agreement with the sender to determine the start date of the right share.

  1. The validity of a right share is assumed to apply indefinitely, unless an EndDate is provided.

  1. If no rights are claimed, this shall be communicated using the RightShareNotClaimed flag, not by setting RightSharePercentage to 0.

  1. The RightShareUnknown flag shall only be used by rights holders if they know that they control right shares in a musical work but have not (yet) established their precise amount of that right share.

  1. The HasRightsInDispute flag shall only be used to indicate whether there is an actual disagreement as to rights ownership and/or right share percentage. The HasRightsInDispute flag shall not be used to indicate conflicting right share data, which may simply be due to errors. This flag shall therefore not be used when sending a conflict notification as specified in Clause 8.3 of this part of the MWN standard.

  1. If a right share is in some way related to another right share that is being communicated in the same message, the composites about the two right shares shall be linked by using one or more of the following elements: HasOriginalPublisherShare, IsFollowerInTitleOf/BaseRightShare, IsFollowerInTitleOf/ManuscriptRightShare.

  1. If a right share is an income participant share, the IsNetPublisherShare attribute shall be set to false and no writers shall be linked to that right share. The IsNetPublisherShare shall only be used for MusicalWorkCollectionShares.
