8.1.1 Introduction
Clause 5 of Part 1 of the MWN standard describes the data exchange between rights holders and other companies such as record companies, CMOs or DSPs. A typical use case for this is the registration of a musical work by a music publisher with a CMO to enable the CMO to manage any rights in the musical works mandated to it on behalf of the music publisher. Another typical use case for this is a notification from a rights holder in a musical work(s) to provide data describing the right share(s) of the rights holder in a musical work to record companies or DSPs. A further use case is a notification from a CMO to inform a music publisher about the musical work right share data stored in the CMO’s systems.
